Initially our education was a disaster. but over time for us to compensate we have been getting a better education because we have started to interact with each other and help each other to reach greater heights in the educating world.

Mini-Biography - Rosa Parks

1. When was she born? Where? Tuskegee, Alabama on  February 4, 1913
2. When does the Civil Rights Movement unofficialy start? How did Rosa Parks ignite this? The civil rights movement unofficialy started on  December 1, 1955 when rosa parks refused to give up her seat for a white man.
3. Why was Rosa Parks arrested? Under what charge? Rosa Parks was arrested because she did not give up her seat for a white man and move to the back of the bus. she was charged with Civil Disobedience 4. Where did she go to school? What did she study to become?  Alabama State Teachers College. she studied to become a teacher.
5. What is the NAACP?  National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP),
6. When did she die? How? 24 October 2005. she died of natural cause. she had dementia

Mini-Biography -- Malcolm X

1. When was Malcolm X born? Where? 19 May 1925, Omaha, Nebraska
2. Why did Malcolm X have to move so much at an early age? What happened to his father? He had to move so much at an early age because his father civil rights acts prompted death threats from the white supremacist organization Black Legion, forcing the family to relocate. His father was later killed.
3. What made Malcolm lose his dream of becoming a lawyer? After he dropped out of school, what did he do for "work?" a favorite teacher told Malcolm his dream of becoming a lawyer was "no realistic goal for a nigger," Malcolm lost interest in school. He dropped out, spent some time in Boston, Massachusetts working various odd jobs, and then traveled to Harlem, New York where he committed petty crimes. By 1942 Malcolm was coordinating various narcotics, prostitution and gambling rings.

Democratic National Convention, 1964 -Because Democratic President Lyndon Johnson had announced he would not seek a second term, the purpose of the convention was to select a new nominee to run as the Democratic Party’s candidate for the office.

Fourteenth Amendment -  grants citizenship to everyone born in the US and subject to its jurisdiction and protects civil and political rights

Freedom Riders/Riders-  civil rights activists that rode interstate buses into the segregated southern United States to test the United States Supreme Court decision Boyton v. Virginia of 1960

Freedom Schools (Mississippi), 1964 - alternative free schools for African Americans mostly in the South

- They were originally part of a nationwide effort during the Civil Rights Movement to organize African Americans to achieve social, political and economic equality in the U.S. 

Freedom Summer (Mississippi), 1964 - a campaign in the U.S. launched in June 1964 to register as any African Americans voters in Mississippi

Jim Crow -  used to describe the segregation laws, rules, and customs which arose after Reconstruction ended in 1877 and continued until the mid-1960's

 - A good way to respond to assumptions is to prove people wrong.

Albany (Georgia) Movement, 1961 -  a desegragation coalition formed in Albany, Georgia, on November 17, 1961

Birmingham, desegregation of, 1963 - a strategic movement organized by the Southern Chrisitan Leadership Confrence (SCLC) to bring attention to the unequal treatment black americans endured in Brimingham, Alabama
